ESIB students Michel Tawil, Pascal Achkar, and LAU student Amer Mouawad end up winners in the competition.

“The award is our contribution to the promotion of Information Technology in Lebanon. We should recognize the talents of our students and encourage them to invest in their search for excellence. It is our responsibility as companies to create for them the right opportunities that will bring significant innovations to our products and make Lebanese software succeed in the international arena”, explains Mrs. Raymonde El Hayek, GM of SDCG.

An award was presented by Mr. Michel Nseir, CEO of Software Design Consulting Group, to each one of the students during a ceremony that took place on the 15th of October at the “L’Atelier”, Berytech 2, in the presence of representatives of the universities educational body, Software Design friends and Information Technology professionals.

SDCG "Road to Success" Award Ceremony

Updated 10/2008

After the success of last year’s IT competition, Software Design Consulting Group (SDCG) decided to challenge for the second year students from ESIB University and LAU to come up with innovative projects. As an incentive for students to participate, SDCG rewards the best technological end of year IT project.

The projects were presented last June at the ESIB, under the supervision of Mr. Wajdi Najem, Dean of the Faculte d’Ingenierie and at the LAU, under the supervision of Dr Nashat Mansour, Professor of Computer Science. Projects were judged and graded by a Jury exclusively composed of professors, faculty representatives and a team from Software Design lead by Mrs. Raymonde El Hayek Warde, General Manager of SDCG.

When asked to tell more about this year’s award theme, Mrs. Raymonde El Hayek Warde, GM of SDCG, explained “The Road to Success is always under construction. Within a changing world of technologies, we all face far more important challenges than what we had to cope with during our academic years. We’re permanently facing a jury that assesses our work, like our colleagues, customers, society.... My advice to all graduates: You have to excel to stay in the race and guaranty a prosperous future. The “Road to Success” award is our contribution to each one these graduate students, in the increasingly competitive world of today’s business. Hoping that it will pave the road to their success!”.

Impressive entries by ESIB students Mohamed Wassim Wehbe, Eddy Farhat, and LAU student Fawzi Breidi saw them all end up winners in the competition.

The project submitted by ESIB students, Farhat and Wehbe, covered the peer-to-peer technology. The subject was selected due to the challenge it represented in terms of research into the latest technologies. When asked what their impression was after their project was selected, they said: “Winning gave us both a feeling of achievement. It gave us self-confidence and the will to move on. Over all, it really reflected the education and discipline we had as engineers at the ESIB”.

For Breidi, it was no surprise he took home one of the prizes. His ingenuity guided him to invent a system where personal programs can be protected on a computer. These programs can be accessed and viewed by other users without being stolen.

Commenting after his triumph, Breidi said, “I wanted to prove what I could do against my competitors and I was confident that I would win. Now, I am very pleased because the prize helped me enroll into the masters program at LAU even though my GPA wasn’t that good!”

An award was presented by Mr. Michel Nseir, CEO of Software Design Consulting Group, to each one of the students during a ceremony that took place on the 3rd of October at the “L’Atelier”, Berytech 2, in the presence of representatives of the universities educational body, Software Design friends and Information Technology professionals.

SDCG goes back to school...

Updated 10/2007

To celebrate 20 years since it was established, Software Design Consulting Group (SDCG) decided to share its success and encourage growth in the IT sector, and in particular, with Computer Science students from the ESIB University “Faculte d’Ingenierie” in Lebanon.

As an incentive for students, SDCG decided to acknowledge the best technological end of year IT project. The contest was held last June under the supervision of the Dean of the Faculty, Mr. Wajdi Najem, and judged by a Jury exclusively composed of professors ,faculty representatives and a team of Software Design lead by Raymonde Warde, General Manager of SDCG .

“We wanted to create a forum where students could showcase their knowledge to leading academics and professionals. It also gave us a chance to assess what the Lebanese students are capable of doing,” explained the CEO of Software Design Mr Michel Nseir.

Impressive entries by Celia Achkar and Sarah Dagher caught the eye of the judges. Their project, which won the competition, was designed and developed as an application that enables physicians to access their patients’ medical files while using their cell phone. This was developed using Mobile Java technology that supports GPRS for data communication.
“Personally, I thought winning was simply far fetched for me. This award proved me wrong. Moreover, it taught me that hard work and perseverance always pay,” reflected Dagher. Achkar was also humbled by winning and just thrilled to have had the opportunity to put her mind to the test. “I was very grateful for this opportunity to participate in this project so that I could apply the knowledge I’ve acquired. Winning this project is a testament to the value of my education and is a boost of confidence for my future professional career,” said Achkar.

An award was presented to each one of them during a ceremony that took place on the 16th of October at the ESIB Campus, in the presence of representatives of the university educational body and information technology companies.

Participation in the PCA CMM seminar

Updated 07/2003

Quality Software has always been a concern to Software Design consultants. The PCA (Personal Computer Association), in collaboration with Amideast and the USAID, has organized on the 25 & 26 of June a Capability Maturity Model (CMM) training course.

The Capability Maturity Model (CMM) was created by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) to evaluate the capability of contractors to develop quality software on cost and on budget. It was then used extensively by the software development industry to determine the maturity of their software development process, identify its weaknesses, and plan improvement actions

This intensive seminar was designed for members of QA, software and system engineering, management and process specialists.

In order to promote its products and services in the Arabic Gulf, Software Design Consulting Group has participated, like the past four years, in one of the leading IT exhibition in the Middle East Area, Gitex Dubai 2002.
